So Pretty Hair Extensions

 Here are a few of our answers.

1. Will I look like I have a mullet?

No.

So pretty extensions are tailored to your own hair lengths.

If you hair is on the short or thin side we will pair you with shorter extensions for blending purposes.

For instance if you hair is shoulder length 20" extensions would never blend with your
natural hair.
More length can be added as your hair grows and the wefts are moved up the hair shaft.

2. Do I have to style my hair?
Yes, for it to look best.

These aren't something for the no maintenance gal.
They take care, brushing, drying and styling.

3. Do I have to use any special products with my extensions?
Yes.
Salon products are required for best care.
Shampoo, conditioner, beautifying serum and dry shampoo
 help to keep your extensions looking their
best.
The better you take care of you hair the longer they will be able to be reused.

4. Will they damage my hair?
Some.
There will always be some damage when applying any type of permanent extensions.
We believe that So Pretty is the least damaging on the market.
There isn't any
 twisting the hair or
Pinching with thread through a bead
 to build a track that the wefts will be attached to.
 Also, see question 3.
Salon products are key to healthy hair.

5. Were you trained to apply extensions?
Yes.
Teresa our trainer has been doing extensions for 20 years.
She has been trained in every type on the market  and has developed her own method.

6. Can my hair extensions be colored?
No
We color match your hair to the extensions so there is no need to color.
Some color can be deposited, but they can never be lightened.
We prefer not to do a lot of coloring on them because due to the process the hair has already undergone the color can be inconsistent.


7. Do I have to wash my hair everyday?
No
Even if you previously washed your hair everyday you won't have to with extensions.
Utilizing the dry shampoo is your best friend for your natural hair.
Extensions take longer to dry than your natural hair so washing every three days could be a great option.
A lot of clients say they wear their hair
straight on day one, then curled, then in a ponytail or a braid on day three.

8. Can I wear my hair up?
Yes.
So Pretty Extensions are applied in such a way that you can wear them however you want to.

9. Will they grow out with my natural hair?
Yes.
We recommend having them adjusted (moved up the hair shaft) approximately every 6 weeks.
We take them out.
Brush and shampoo your hair.
Dry and reapply.
Depending on how well the hair has been cared for we can reuse it many times.

10. How much do So Pretty Hair Extensions cost?
Now through December 2014 the cost is
$300.00 for the hair and application.
and
$100.00 for adjusting.

Starting in January
Cost will be $100.00 per weft and application
and $150.00 for adjusting.

Teresa Young is the founder of this revolutionary method of extensions.

We have known each other since we were 5 years old when her mom was my babysitter.

She moved away and we reconnected in beauty school.

Then, she moved away again!

We Are A Wig Closet

For the last 6 years we have been a wig closet that is partnered with 

Columbia Memorial Hospital

and

American Cancer Society.

CMH and ACS provide the wigs and we fit and cut them.

No charge

No strings attached

It started out with the urging of one of our client/friends who is passionate about women and finding a cure for cancer.

It continues because I can't get over how empowered and happy women feel when they leave with new hair.

It also continues because it makes me remember my Grandma Ethel.

She was fancy and never left without full make up and hair done.

She died of cancer; never seeking treatment.

I do it for her.

We want women to feel like they have options.

We want women to feel as pretty on the outside as they are on the inside.

We want women to feel that having hair isn't a deal breaker when it comes to their treatment options.

Believe it or not some women don't seek treatment because of the hair loss.

Women don't feel pretty if their hair isn't right.

What will their friends think?

What will strangers think?

What about the kids and the spouse?

These are all very valid concerns for women.

We want to take those concerns and give you back

Confidence

and the ability to get healthy without the cost of a wig and fitting.

Sometimes they come alone and sometimes with friends

They always leave happy.

We laugh and we cry

We take cancers power and give it back to the person battling.

I have fit well over 100 wigs

There is one story that sticks with me the most.

It was a quiet early morning.

I had a wig client

Joni had a client with almost waist length hair who only wanted a trim.

As I am shaving off my clients hair Joni's client catches a glimpse of the hair coming off my client and asks what is going on.

Joni fills her in and with tears rolling down her face she decides then and there that she is going to donate her hair.

My client was crying

Joni's client was crying

Joni and I were crying

Tissues all around

Everyone ended the hour smiling.

Our hair isn't who we are.

It doesn't make us pretty.

We don't get strength from it.

We are who we are because of circumstances in our lives.

Our hearts make us pretty.

Our strength comes from friends, family, love, prayer.

Our strength comes from knowing we aren't alone.

If we for even a minute can help someone feel not alone

to feel powerful

to feel strong

to feel pretty

or to smile

then we have succeeded.

Nothing overflows my cup more than a woman who looks at me with new hair and tears in her eyes

that says

My heart overflows.

I have been in the biz for 19 years.

5 reasons we don't have gossip magazines in the salon!

As you may or may not know we don't have gossip magazines at Salon Boheme.

We also don't have Glamour or Cosmo or others like it.

Here is why:

1. Gossip breeds more gossip.

If someone is sitting in my chair and we say
"Oh did you hear -insert celebrities name here- are getting a divorce and she is pregnant by -insert another celebrity-"

The other people in the salon don't necessarily know we are talking about celebrities and not other clients.

Gossip is gossip regardless who it is about.

2. We have enough pressure on us.

I'll never forget the day I am at the grocery store and the cover of a magazine read
"how to please your guy in 10 seconds"

"lose 10 pounds by the weekend!"

Ok, so now I need to be a wife who is 10 pounds thinner and can please my husband in 10 seconds?

Um, no thanks.

I'm just trying to be the best wife and mom I can be for my family.

No more pressure needed, please.

3. There isn't a lot of positive inside.

We want you to leave the salon feeling as good on the inside as you look on the outside.

Full to the brim with all the good stuff.

Relaxed and not stressed.

4. We don't care

What they (celebrities) look like with and without make up

If they went to the grocery store

Sensationalizing these people and infringing on their privacy while they are pushing their kids on a swing at the park is absurd

It's no wonder sometimes they lose their cool and punch our a dude holding a camera.

5. Book are better.

We have a wide assortment of books for every age.

They are available to read in the salon or to take and bring back.

It's the honor system and has worked well for many years.

We do have magazines available too:

Haircut and hairstyle

Oprah

InStyle

Vogue

Cooking, canning and gardening varieties

and of course

Some for all the dudes in the salon

The options are always changing.

We also have an Etch A Sketch!

This is a very popular item.

Kids will even trade an electronic to play with it.

Adults pick it up and usually say

"I had one of these when I was a kid"

A lot of stairs have been drawn and some people can fashion their name on it.

It is fun to see peoples eyes light up when they pick it up.

Salons for the most part have this persona where you can get all the dirty gossip on everyone under the sun.

Well, not here.

We are raising the bar.

So, come, snuggle up on our sofa and get into a good book or try to twist your name on the Etch A Sketch while your color processes or you wait for your friend.
We will pour you a glass of wine, grab you a beer or make you a piping hot cup of joe to go with it.
